An essay, in general, is a set of prose written to discuss a specific topic. It is a part of written article that provides the writer's primary argument, normally with some supporting facts and figures. These types of essays require little if any reference to the subject matter and are often quite funny. But they need to be well organized and intriguing. Research papers will be the last category. The purpose of those is to present study findings, frequently on a particular topic.
Papers can be categorized on quite a few different levels. A thesis is on a single degree, while a report or a poem is on a number of levels. Most research papers, however, are put on a single level.
